BOSTON UNIVERSITY PROJECTS

SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH

Several of my courses at Boston University included real-life projects in collaboration with organizations like NICH-Q and WalkBoston, as well as the Rhode Island Department of Health.

In the Managing Public Health Programs and Projects course, my team and I proposed that language is a social determinant of health. We developed and presented to a public health organization a comprehensive report including an environmental scan, literature review and organizational profile on LEAD-K, an early childhood focused organization on language acquisition for all deaf kids, with the purpose of identifying opportunities for partnership in a national initiative. This was also read by Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

In the Communication Strategies for Public Health course, my team and I worked with the Rhode Island Department of Health to develop an intervention strategy for their multimillion dollar HRSA grant. We focused on telebehavioral health to increase health care access in Rhode Island, specifically to pregnant and postpartum women. Our final report is available to view.

In the Designing and Implementing a Public Health Campaign course, my team and I worked with WalkBoston to create a campaign video targeting Massachusetts residents between the ages of 24-34. Our goal was to promote Massachusetts residents to contact WalkBoston to improve walkability in their neighborhood, city, or town.

In the Mass Communication and Public Health course, my team and I developed and presented a mock project proposal to Boston Public Schools (BPS) to promote healthy eating among BPS families by providing access to an affordable healthy food truck. I designed the presentation and most infographics.
